Alex Toth-Jones RacingA great day was had by all at the Ginetta family fun day Rockingham.

Our VIP guests Lodestone Projects , Elite Group , Picturesports Photography & Motorsport at Work all had high speed passenger rides around the track with Alex in his G40as well as enjoying the fun fair, entertainment, karting track and hospitality.

Alex also managed a cheeky test in a Ginetta G55.

Donington last race of season finishes on a high!

Well the last races of the season had arrived on the British GT support package. I’d never raced here before and only done a couple of test days but

on the national circuit not the GP circuit so my challenge was to learn the last 2 corners in qualifying! As usual no pressure!

Spa Franchoramps race

Alex Toth-Jones RacingWell to say excited is an understatement to realise I had got the funding to race at Spa! My dream circuit couldn’t believe it.

It’s an amazing circuit and I was determined to enjoy it no matter what!

With no pre testing at all I had 2 x 20 minute sessions to learn the track on the Thursday before Quali on the Friday morning so no pressure!

Qualifying saw me 10th on the grid for Race 1 finishing in 10th at the end of the race out of the 36 car grid.

Race 2 starting 10th and after a slight moment! on Eau Rough I finished in 12th.

Race 3 started 12th and all was going well, I had picked up a few places untill I was pushed off the track a Blanchimont and hit the barrier at full speed which was the end of that! After a trip to the medical centre and the all clear I returned back to the team to find the decision was that ‘Burt Goose’ (my car) was seriously damaged. The other driver was repremanded for the incident but unfortunatly I still have to foot the bill to fix Bert!

However even though the week resulted in heavy damage I still thoughly enjoyed my time at Spa with the team, had such a laugh and learnt so much.

Bert is now on the mend and looking forward to the last race of the season at Donington in September.

Croft race weekend

Great weekend again racing with Richardsons. This time no damage! Oulton park on BTCC support package with packed crowds.

Again my 1st time at the circuit and just 20 minutes testing before I was into qualiying and no new tyres available as part of my tyre allocation due to the incidents at Oulton previously so no pressure!

Qualified 14th and was making my way forward through the field in the early stages of race one only to get contact from behind at the hairpin on lap two to demote me to back of the pack so I battled my way to finish Race 1 in13th.

Race 2 saw a safety car period which hampered my chances a bit as I couldn’t build on a decent start but the car felt good underneath me and with more time, we could have been in the top ten again; we certainly had the pace. Overall, a best result of 13th on paper isn’t what I was hoping for from the weekend but I think the pace is something I can be happy with and I can’t wait for the next round at Spa – it’s where I’ve always dreamed of racing and that dream will soon come true.

Action packed wet Silverstone race weekend

A very wet race weekend saw some highs and lows!

The fourth meeting of the season hadn’t originally been part of my schedule with my original agreement having only covered the previous two meetings at Thruxton and Oulton Park as well as next weekend’s BTCC-support event at Croft I managed to secure the funding to do Silverstone and the rest of the seasoon as well!

I missed the pre race testing due to work commitments so went straight into qualifying and secured 8th place on the 39 car rgid.

Unfortunately – having made up two places at the start – I was tipped into a spin going through Becketts on the second lap found himself firmly in the wrong place at the wrong time and was collected by one of the cars behind in a side on collistion; putting me out of the race on the spot and causing heavy damage to my car.

A late night for the team saw my car repaired in time for the second race, which was held in wet conditions on Sunday morning. Forced to start from the pit lane after my car started to mist-up on the warming up lap, I made it up to 17th place but was then forced back into the pits with ongoing visibility issues and left to retire from the race.

With the team resolving the issue in time for race three, I again lined up at the back of the field but was once again a man on a mission when the lights went out – climbing from 37th to 21st on lap one and then breaking into the top 20 on lap two. As heavy rain led to worsening track conditions, I battled into 10th place before the decision was taken to end the race at the end of lap five, with an incident on the start/finish line then causing the race to be red-flagged and the result declared a lap earlier. Aparently I made up an 53 places across the three Silverstone races!

Action packed is the best way to describe this weekend! Considering we arrived at the circuit with no testing, I was happy with my performance in qualifying but it was disappointing to be taken out of Race 1 in the way we were, as I really felt we were on for our best finish yet.

The team did an amazing job to repair the car (Bert Goose) and worked late into the night to make sure I was out for race two but we were struggling to stop the car from misting up and despite making up loads of places early on, I had no option but to pit as I simply couldn’t see and it was too dangerous to continue.

Race 3 however was great fun and I was really in my element in difficult conditions. To come through to 10th at the finish was fantastic, even if we then lost out when the result was taken back a lap. To see the reaction of the team when I came back to the pits at the end was really uplifting at the end of a difficult weekend.

I was able to learn an awful lot this weekend and I don’t think it will be long before we can start pushing for some silverware, especially as I now know that I’m going to be in the car for the rest of the season.

Alex Toth-Jones Racing at Oulton

Oulton Park race weekend

Again a first for me at this track. Just done 1 days testing previously.

Qualifying saw me 8th on grid for Race 1 which I was happy with and finished 7th again happy!

But it went down hill from their unfortunatly! Race 2 started 8th and an incident at the start saw the safety car deployed for the whole race and I finished 7th.

Race 3 was a reverse grid so I started 2nd which I held onto for a couple of laps but lost a few places and had contact with the car infront which led to my bonnet poping open blocking my vision and sending my into the gravel!

Positives from the weekend are I was on the pace and finished 7th and gained alot of experience to take forward to next time at Croft.

Thruxton first race! What a weekend!

Alex Toth-Jones Racing - ThruxtonAmazing weekend racing with Richardson Racing at Thruxton in the BTCC support race Ginetta GT5 Challenge.

First ever race in a car so I was exited but scared at the same time.

Quaified 9th, Race 1 finished 8th, Race 2 started 8th got clipped in hairpin and put to back of pack P22 30 sec down. So I went for it caught the pack up and finished 13th. Very happy with my first race weekend.
