Great weekend again racing with Richardsons. This time no damage! Oulton park on BTCC support package with packed crowds.
Again my 1st time at the circuit and just 20 minutes testing before I was into qualiying and no new tyres available as part of my tyre allocation due to the incidents at Oulton previously so no pressure!
Qualified 14th and was making my way forward through the field in the early stages of race one only to get contact from behind at the hairpin on lap two to demote me to back of the pack so I battled my way to finish Race 1 in13th.
Race 2 saw a safety car period which hampered my chances a bit as I couldn’t build on a decent start but the car felt good underneath me and with more time, we could have been in the top ten again; we certainly had the pace. Overall, a best result of 13th on paper isn’t what I was hoping for from the weekend but I think the pace is something I can be happy with and I can’t wait for the next round at Spa – it’s where I’ve always dreamed of racing and that dream will soon come true.
