Well to say excited is an understatement to realise I had got the funding to race at Spa! My dream circuit couldn’t believe it.
It’s an amazing circuit and I was determined to enjoy it no matter what!
With no pre testing at all I had 2 x 20 minute sessions to learn the track on the Thursday before Quali on the Friday morning so no pressure!
Qualifying saw me 10th on the grid for Race 1 finishing in 10th at the end of the race out of the 36 car grid.
Race 2 starting 10th and after a slight moment! on Eau Rough I finished in 12th.
Race 3 started 12th and all was going well, I had picked up a few places untill I was pushed off the track a Blanchimont and hit the barrier at full speed which was the end of that! After a trip to the medical centre and the all clear I returned back to the team to find the decision was that ‘Burt Goose’ (my car) was seriously damaged. The other driver was repremanded for the incident but unfortunatly I still have to foot the bill to fix Bert!
However even though the week resulted in heavy damage I still thoughly enjoyed my time at Spa with the team, had such a laugh and learnt so much.
Bert is now on the mend and looking forward to the last race of the season at Donington in September.
