TOTH-JONES TARGETS PORSCHE SPRINT TITLE WITH IN2RACING

Alex Toth-Jones is fully focused on winning the inaugural Porsche Sprint Challenge GB championship after signing with In2Racing for 2020.

The 23-year-old joins the respected Warwickshire-based team for the 12-race series, which begins on 11 July at Snetterton.

Toth-Jones tested In2Racing’s Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport at Donington Park last week, quickly acclimatising to the new car. He completed 80 laps while familiarising himself with the mid-engined sportscars, setting very competitive times on used rubber.

The Yorkshire racer said: ‘After so many months on the side lines due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a massive buzz to be back behind the wheel of a racing car. The GT4 is mega. It’s fast, agile and responsive – In2Racing have prepared a brilliant racecar.

‘I immediately felt comfortable during the test session and was able to put down some fast times from the off. The team was welcoming and incredibly professional, and we clicked straight away. I’m confident that behind the wheel of the In2Racing Porsche we can target the championship title this year.’

He added: ‘I’d like to thank my management team at MSL Motorsport Consultancy, and the In2Racing team, for this opportunity, and all my partners and sponsors. I can’t wait to get racing.’

The Porsche Sprint Challenge GB is a new series for the 425bph GT4 introduced to the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid for this year. The season was delayed due to the coronavirus lockdown, but the full 12-race championship will be completed in a revised calendar. The schedule includes rounds at British GT and British Touring Car Championship events.

In2Racing Director Nick Dudfield said: ‘We are delighted to secure a driver of Alex’s calibre to lead our title charge in 2020. His experience in GT4 racing last year has allowed him to adapt quickly to the 718 Cayman.

The whole team is impressed not only by his speed and skill, but also with the technical knowledge and feedback Alex demonstrated during Friday’s test. His enthusiasm is infectious, and we share his confidence that the title will be our target this season’.
